This page offers a glance at the chronology of the creation of a new viola. This instrument was built in the year 2001; the building period was ap. 3 months.
It was modelled on the work of Michele Deconet (Venice, ca. 1755).

Construction: Ribs are planed to the desired thickness

Construction: Curved ribs are glued to top, bottom and corner blocks

Construction: Deconet model outline, assembled ribs, table and back

Construction: Rib outline with edge (thickness of 3.5 mm.) are drawn on table and back

Construction: Arching is roughly carved out with gouge, planes and scrapers, then finely planed to the final height

Construction: To achieve the desired tonal quality, inner surfaces of table and back are carved out to the necessary thickness
